Hi! My name is Sara Aalvik and I'm a student at Mid Sweden University. I come from Malmö, a coastal city in the southern-most part of Sweden.

I'm attending this course because I want improve my language skills further, especially within writing. Parts of my family live in the United States, so English has been sort of a second native language all my life.

Apart from studying, I work part-time as a day care teacher. My biggest interests in life are travel and books; I never seem to get enough of either of them.

I think this collaborative project is a fun initiative and I'm looking forward to working with all the Italian students.

My name is Frida and I'm twenty years old. I'm studying English to prepare myself for future university studies in veterinary medicine. I'm also very fond of languages and I love writing, so this course seamed perfect for me. I've enjoyed it so far and it only seams to be getting better.
Basically I spend my free time in the stable, riding or taking care of my horses. I train and compete dressage regularly.
Me and my boyfriend are also working on our apartment at the moment, painting and moving walls takes time:) I also work part time as a personal assistant, which I enjoy since I like working with people.
I live in the middle of Sweden, rather near the east cost. I like it here, though this time of year it's a bit to cold.
Anyway, looking forward to the Italian cooperation, take care guys!

Hi, my name is Frida, I’m 19 years old and I live outside of Sundsvall in the north of Sweden.

I’m taking this course to improve my knowledge of the English language further, but also to prepare myself for my studies in music management.

Music is probably the biggest part of my life, and it takes up most of my spare time. I attend as many different shows as I can and I volunteer at different festivals during the summers.

When I’m not studying or attending some musical event, I work. I work part-time as a telephone operator at the regional bus/taxi company. It’s not the best job I’ve had but it’s definitely not the worst, I talk to a lot of interesting people during the days.

I think this collaborative is going to be really interesting and I’m looking forward to working with all the Italian students.

Hi,
My name is Louise and I'm 20 years old. I live at Öland, in the east of Sweden.

I'm attending this couse because I would like to improve my English to future studying. I would like to become a Dentist sometimes.

When I'm not studying, I work at a company which sells air filter and in different school canteens. I enjoy both jobs very much, since they are very different and you meet both children and adults.

I love all kind of sports, I play football myself and like to exercise a lot. Books and friends are also interest of mine.

This collaborative project seems to be fun and interesting and I'm looking forward to it!

Hi
My name is Camilla Ålstig and I a live in Vilhelmina, a very beautiful little town, or you might want to call it a village because it is so small, in the north of Sweden.

I am attending this course because I am planning to become a language teacher in Swedish and English.

I also work as a recreation leader at a recreation centre part time. When I am not working and studying (which hardly gives me any free time) I go to the gym and I love to draw and paint pictures that I stock in my basement.

It seems to be a fun way to communicate through the blogg and a good way to language practise, but I also feel lost in the computer world because studying by the internet is so new to me. So if I am lost please fetch me back!

My name is Malin Ödlund. I´m a 32 year old teacher of German and Swedish. I live in Sundsvall, a city in the middle of Sweden on the east coast. We used to have great winters here, but saddly (since I´like to ski) we don´t get much snow nowadays.

Right now I´m struggling with working and studying at the same time. Actually it works ok, even though I don´t get much sparetime.
Many students choose not to study German. Therefore I study English, so I won´t loose my job in the future and since I´m interested in languages, English felt lika a natural choice.

In my sparetime I mainly do sports. Two evenings a week I teach aerobic dance classes in a gym called Helex. I love to move to inspiring music. I also spend much time at home with my family: my two year-old son and my partner.

I look forward to co-operating with all of you in Italy!

Anna Almström is my name and I’m 34 years old. I live in a town called Karlstad in Värmland, Sweden. I’m the mother of three little princesses aged, 12, 8 and 6. So my life is covered in pink and filled with dolls. I’m also pregnant in week 16 so I’m starting to have a little bump on my belly again. Except from raising children I have studied comparative literature (Swedish) for two years at Karlstad University and creative English, Existential questions (religion) and a course in writing historical novels at Växjö university. So I have been busy I can guarantee. My main interest is, as I think you all understand, literature. I love to read and analyse literature. I’m not so found of writing though, even if it was quit interesting to try to write poetry in English. I didn’t really understand when I was applying for the course that I was supposed to write anything myself, I thought we where supposed to look on things other people had written and learn how for an example Shakespearian sonnet was done. I almost fainted when my teacher told us on the first day to write a poem about ourselves. That was just the beginning of a summer filled with writing sonnets, ballads, haikus, limericks and short stories. It was a real challenge for me to write and read up my own poetry in front of other people who obviously had read the course description much more properly than I had…

Hi!

My name is Pia and I live in Eskilstuna, 12 miles from Stockholm, in Sweden. I have studying for about four and a half years now and have an exam in Economic. As a complement I’m now studying English which I think and hope will improve my English skill. In my spare time I’m really enjoy to read, write, baking and spend time outside in the nature such as hiking, running, skiing and go cycling. But most of all I love to go to the mountains and experience the nature there.

The collaboration project with the Pisa Students seems to be a fun and different part in the English studying and I’m looking forward to it.

Have a nice day
Pia

Hi everyone! My name is Lovisa and I live in Sundsvall, quite near campus of the University. I took this course in English because I am very interested in languages and I think it will be good to have as a resume, among other university courses, while searching jobs.

I live in an apartment with my boyfriend and our 14 weeks old Finish Lapdog puppy. It is a lot of work, but great fun as well. When I am not studying or taking care of the puppy, I work as a support telephonist where I help people who are doing a internet course getting started.

This collaborative project seems really fun, and it is always interesting to hear real voices from another part of the world.

Hi,
My name is Marie Rehnstedt and I’m 26 years old. I live in the middle of Sweden with my boyfriend Daniel and our beautiful two-months-old daughter Lovisa.

Prior to this term I’ve already studied for two years at Mid Sweden University, to become a teacher. After this course I will have one year of studying left, in order to get my degree. I’m mainly taking this course for my previously mentioned education, but also because I like talking and teaching English. Also, I have cousins and other relatives in the United States, who have been a great influence on my willingness to learn even more English.

Apart from studying I’m talking care of my new found love, my daughter. Handling these two tasks at the same time turned out to be much harder than I imagined. Time just doesn’t seem to bee enough sometimes. But I’m hanging in there!

Well, that’s a little bit about me. I’m looking forward to reading about you guys in Italy as well! Take care!

Hi

My name is Paulina and I'm 19 years old. I live outside of Stockholm in a town called Sundbyberg.

I'm taking this course because I want to improve my English skills, if I would like to study abroad some day. When I'm not studying, I work at a curling arena.

Working and studying takes up most of my time, but in the little spare time I've got, I like to be with my friends and boyfriend, to read and to travel. Another big interest of mine is interior design and architecture.

I think it will be fun to collaborate with the Italian students.

Hi,
My name is Greta, I am 34 and live on the island of Gotland in the Baltic Sea. I am English but want to become qualified as a teacher for secondary school in Sweden and was told I would have to do some extra English and university so here I am.
I have a bachelor's degree in History (with a special option on Art and Society in Medieval Italy) and a Master's in Medieval Studies both from a UK university.
Can't think of much more to add, perhaps that I am the mother of four with a fifth on the way in December and we have nine horses and a menagery of other animals on our little farm here on Gotland.
I also work as a translator and run a translation agency in Sweden.

Hay there! I am Albin Klingstedt and I study English at the Mid Sweden University. 25 years ago I was born. For the most part of my life I been living in Sweden but since a while ago I now live in London together with my British girlfriend and her family.

I decided to study English because I wish to become more fluent with the language. Instead of annoying my girlfriend with my errors I registered for this course :) I still annoy her sometimes but that's another story.

Other than studying I like to play games, cook food and watch TV. I am also currently making a own computer game.

Oh well I am now gonna try submit this comment, let see how it goes. :)

Hi everyone! My name is Isabelle, I’m 22years old and I’m from a town called Örebro, which according to me is located in the middle of Sweden, but if you ask anyone from further up north they would probably say that I’m from the south of this long and thin country. Maybe there is a bit of truth in that, but at least I’m from the middle of where most of the people live in Sweden.

Recently I moved across the world to Australia. I live in a beautiful little beach town called Austinmer, just an hour south of Sydney. My boyfriend and I are renting a house together with another couple that we are close friends with. It’s good fun and all going great, except that their dog is leaving brown stinking piles on the veranda all the time…

Something I’ve noticed after being here is the Aussies has a lot of energy, lucky though we live close to the beach so they can surf a lot. I’m trying to learn how to surf but coming from a country with lakes pretty much flat all the time, it is quite a challenge for me.

I have been here in Australia before but then as a backpacker most of the time, now when I’m going to live a normal life here it might be pretty obvious why I’m studying English. My goal is to be fluent in English, to know the language as well as the Aussies does so I can be accepted as one of them and don’t sound like a foreigner. I know I have a long way to go, but you have to start somewhere right!

In my freetime I enjoy spending time with friends and family. I also like to go to the gym or ride my friends horses. When I really want to just relax I like to read a great book, mostley fantasy. Music is a very big part of me and I like all sorts, but one favorite band is 3 Doors Down. This weekend I actually saw them live in Stockholm and they were just awesome.

Hi everyone!

My name is Lisa Olsson and I’m 26 years old. I have lived in Malmö for five years now. I moved here to become a graphic designer, which I also did but I’m already on my way to change career to be a translator from English to Swedish. That’s the reason I chose to study English at Mid Sweden University.
Besides studying, I work as an administrator.

Interests I have are design, watching TV-series and movies, listen to music and read. In other words, I’m a real pop-culture junky.

These were a few words about me, and now I’m looking forward to get to know you all.

Hi,

my name is Sara Beck and I live in Järfälla, just outside of Stockholm with my fiance Robert. I am 27 years old and work as a teacher. I have a class with 27 children in the ages between 7 and 9. In my free time I study English and redecorate our house. We've moved walls, done new flooring and painted nearly all walls.

I love singing and sing as much as I can, at all times, unfortunately even when I shouldn't be. It's lucky I teach younger children as they also enjoy singing alot and it's also helpful in their learning.

I'm looking forward to this course with hopes to improve my English as well as get some credits for it to have a broader competence in my job. It is very exciting to do it this way, with collaboration over the internet, as this is something I would like to test with my own students in the future.

Hi!
My name is Camilla Edvall and I live by the coast in the middle of Sweden. I don't have an exam from the university, as I understand that many of you in Pisa have, but I have taken some courses anyway.

My hobbies are dogs, karaoke and travelling. We have a hunting dog in our family, an English Setter. And as I write that, I come to think of one type of exam that I actually have: hunting exam! You need to take a course and write a test besides the shooting test in order to be allowed to hunt in Sweden.

Well, I think that is enough for now. I agree with the other students - this course is going to be interesting.

Hi,
My name is Sofi Linde and I live in London. Here I am working part time as a translator while I am doing this course from Sweden, using the Internet.

I am originally from Strängnäs, close to Stockholm but have lived in Gothenburg, Örebro and Bolivia (South America).

I speak Spanish and have a degree in interperetation. Now I want to do a masters in translation. I thought it wise to add English to my languages since I live here now and will use English more than Spanish and Swedish.

Too bad we all can´t meet because you seem like interesting people when I read your presentations.

Good luck with the course!

Best regards

Hello everyone!

My name is Stefan, I was born in Göteborg on the West coast of Sweden in the 1960's and I am probably one of the oldest students taking this course this term. I live in Belgium and have followed a number of courses via the Mid Sweden University's distance learning programme.

Even though I work with the English language and with English-speaking people on a daily basis, I have no formal training in English from a Swedish university, so that is why I follow this course. I really like the idea that you can live anywhere in the world, and be of any age (18+), and study at a Swedish university.

My hobbies are travelling, good food and drink (Belgian mussels with a nice glass of wine being a personal favourite right now), film, literature, art, football and the BBC.

My essay will deal with globalisation, which isn't one of the subjects decided by our teachers, but I hope that I will receive plenty of comments anyway.

Looking forward to lots of writing these coming weeks.

Cheers!
Stefan

Hi, my name is Emilia and I live in London. Normally me and my family live in Stockholm, but this year we have moved over here to try out how life in London can be. My husband is working here and I am on maternity leave. In Stockholm I work as a political secretary for the vice mayor of Stockholm, a job that I like very much. And our plan is that I am going back to work on the 8th of December. So, our year here in London is soon coming to its end.

I grew up in Östersund and my whole family is still living there. I try to go there as often as I can, but right now Östersund is kind of far away so I have to wait until Christmas before I go there next time.

I started to study English at Mittuniversitetet in 1998, when I was living in Östersund, but I did not finish the course. As so often happens to me – something else came across my life and I moved on to do what ever that was.

As my daughter is getting bigger and I have the opportunity to have some time of my own, I thought it would be a good time to see over some of the things I once started with, but never got the time or the patience to finish. This course in English is one of them.

I am really looking forward to do this course, and the interchange with all you Italian students is just making the course more interesting to me.

My name's Maria Jönsson. I'm 19 and live in Lund in the south of Sweden.

I chose to study this course over the internet because English has always been a great interest of mine, and in the future I hope to get a job where it will help me, as a translator perhaps.

Apart from English, my great passion is music. I love listening to, playing and making music, preferably together with other people. I'm looking forward to a concert this thursday with Tiger Lou, a fantastic Swedish band. Some other music favourites are System of a Down, Newton Faulkner, and The Used. Greatly recommended if you're not familiar with them!

In the cold silent country of IKEA, there’s where I’ve spent my first 26 years. My name is Jörgen, spelled with the remarkable letter ö, which sounds quite similar to “ea” in the English word “earn”. It’s a male name, which is very appropriate since that is just what I am. I’ve lived in different parts of Sweden and Sweden is, despite of what you might have heard, very diverse. It is not as cold as you might have heard if you visit the southern parts but you won’t get disappointed in that matter if you stick to the northern parts of the country; nor are we as blond as we often are described.

I have a bachelor degree of Communication, but I still haven’t found my path to the perfect profession, whatever that is; I welcome any suggestion. At the moment I use my degree trying to help non-profit organisations. The ethical aspect is central for many choices I make in my life.

I easily fill my spare time with a variety of different interests. I’m trying to learn the guitar and I’ve just learnt “talking about a revolution” by Tracy Chapman. Other interests of mine are diving and running. I like, however, more relaxed activities as well. Watching movies with my girlfriend or spending time at my parent’s house, in the deep dark forest are some examples.

I’m not blond, not disturbingly silent, and not cold with fear of social contact so I might not be the average Swede. However, don’t let this make you hesitate to mail or comment me, even if it’s just to say hi.

Hello everyone!

My name is Frida Bæckström and I’m 25 years old. I live in a large collective in southern Visby, Gotland. I’m studying to become a Swedish teacher and I’m currently working part time as a home health aide and also helping out in a café run by the Salvation Army.

When I’m not studying I like hanging out with my friends and my family. I sing a lot and play the piano and guitar. I’m a member of the Mission Covenant Church of Sweden and try to attend service on Sundays but have been kind of lazy lately…

I’m planning to move to London next year to improve my English and this course will hopefully give me a good foundation to build on.

Good luck to all of you!

Hey you all!
My name is Eva-Maria and I’m a 20 year old girl from Borås, a city close to Gothenburg in the south-west of Sweden.

After I graduated from upper secondary school I decided to move to Dublin, Ireland, to study English in a language school. I fell in love with the city at first sight and I have been living here since (1 year).

I find it easy to enjoy myself over here, the night life is great, there are loads of music venues, pubs, clubs and restaurants. The only drawback is that everything is so expensive! To finance my nights out and about I am working part time in a café.

I am very interested in the English language and the cultures in English speaking countries. That was one of the reasons to why I chose to study this course, and it suits me perfectly to study over the internet as I want to live abroad for a while.

I guess that’s about it. Take care everyone and enjoy the last few hours of the weekend!

Hi! My name is Anna, Im 26 and I'm currently living in San Diego, California, with my boyfriend.

I grew up in a small village north of Uppsala and prior to moving to the US, I studied landscape architecture at the Swedish University of Agricultural Sciences, in Alnarp, Skåne. Right now, I'm having a two-year studybreak, but I will continue my education next fall.

While I'm not studying English, I like reading books, sewing, hiking, watching a movie etc. My biggest focus right now, though, is running, since I'm preparing for my next marathon.

There's a lot of things to see and do here in California. On the weekends you can e.g. go to the beach or even better, visit the nearest wine district.

Well, good luck everyone!

/Anna

Hi,
I am Kajsa Stina a 26 years young girl from a small village about 30 km from the town Östersund in the northern/middle part of Sweden.

I attended this course because I like to learn new things and give myself challenges. And so far this have been a challenge studying through internet with no physical study-mates to meet.

In my sparetime a spend most time with my family´s trotting-horses who I both train and compete with. Accept that I love to bake, cook and read books.

I think this collaboration will be fun, meeting more friends in the world and having more opportunities talking English.

Hi! My name is Rose-Marie and I'm 45 years old. I live with my husband, a dog and three children(9,12 and 15) in a small village by the sea in the very south of Sweden.

I'm studying to become a high school teacher in Math and English. I've already finished my math studies so now I'm here to improve my English.

When I'm not studying I spend a lot of time helping my children with their homework or driving them to afterschool activites. I spend at least one hour every day walking with my dog, Smilla. I also like gardening and cooking for my friends.

Me and my family have been living abroad for 11 years in Jeddah, Moscow and Budapest. A very enriching experience. We came home only four years ago and will move out again next summer. This time it will be either Milan or Shanghai.

This collaborative project sounds interesting and I'm looking forward working with you.
